What are stems?
Stems (also known as trackouts) are the individual audio files that make up a beat, meaning each sound within the beat will be sent as a separate high quality WAV audio file. Leases that include stems are ideal if you plan on recording your song in a professional studio and want to have full control over mixing each instrument around your vocals.
What does it mean to "lease" a beat?
When you purchase a beat lease, you are simply buying the rights to use the beat in a limited and non-exclusive capacity. Nkenda Masa Mxne retains full copyright ownership over the composition and is allowed to continuously sell non-exclusive licenses of that same beat to other artists until someone purchases the Exclusive Rights to the beat. At that point, the beat will be immediately removed from our beat store and ownership rights are granted to the purchaser.
What happens if I exceed the streaming/unit sale limit of my current lease?
You must upgrade your lease to the next tier by contacting us. The cost of the upgrade is simply the price of the new lease minus the amount you already paid for your original lease.
What if I purchase a non-exclusive license and then later on, someone else purchases the exclusive rights?
The purchase of Exclusive Rights to a beat does not impact the status or validity of previous licensees so you do not need to remove your music from streaming services, social media, etc. for the full term of your lease agreement.
What's the difference between an unlimited license and an exclusive?
The usage rights are the same for both: you get unlimited sales, streams, etc. The difference is Unlimited comes with the term limit. So, if you purchase the Exclusive, the ownership rights to the beat are transferred to you and the beat is immediately removed from our beat store, never to be sold to another artist again. The Unlimited License is still non-exclusive, so even though you get the same usage rights as if you owned the Exclusive, the beat will remain in our beat store for others to lease or buy.
Can I Put Leased Beats on iTunes and Spotify?
Yes. A beat lease contract will include the number of streams that is allowed for that particular license agreement. This is for streaming services such as itunes and Spotify.
What are the Benefits of Buying Exclusive Beats?
As we said, when you buy exclusive beats, you have the beat exclusively – you are the only one with the beat. But, there are also other benefits as well. When you purchase exclusive rights beats you receive the WAV files (track stems) which contain all of the individual drum and instrument sounds. You have the freedom to mix and master each individual drum and instrument sound however you’d like. This really helps with an artist mixing in their vocals. You can also compose those sounds and arrange them however you’d like. The beat is yours to customize!
On top of the above mentioned benefits, we also offer up to 2 edits of the original composition of the beat. For example, if you’d like an instrument or sound removed we will provide that for you. If you’d like the verses or hook/chorus to be lengthened or shorten or an extra verse etc., that is included – up to 2 edits of the composition. Contact us if you have any questions about this.
